Women putting on their ladies fitness wear in preparation for a bout of exercise using the Nintendo Wii games console should also prepare by warming up, according to doctors.
People using the Nintendo Wii, on which players can take part in virtual tennis, golf and many other active games, could seriously injure themselves if they do not warm up before gaming or warm down afterwards, the Telegraph reports.
Speaking to the newspaper, Nigel Graham, of the British Osteopath Association, said: "You don't start a workout at a gym without warming up beforehand and it is no different to playing on the Wii. Some games such as tennis are akin to a full-on workout."
Mr Graham advised stretching the muscles that are to be used during gaming before picking up the Wii controller and again after the game is over.
Last month a new yoga game for the Nintendo Wii was released and top model Anja Rubik praised the form of exercise for relieving her back pains and stress.
