Women should wear loose cotton ladies fitness wear when taking part in yoga sessions, according to a fitness expert.
However, those going for a more strenuous work out down at the local fitness centre should opt for well-fitting and comfortable gym clothing, Reebok fitness trainer Vinita Shetty told The Hindu.
"Wearing appropriate workout clothes can enhance and optimise your workouts and thereby increase your benefits," she explained.
Ms Shetty went on to say that wearing the correct women's gym clothing provides necessary support while also helping to maintain an optimum body temperature.
Also, during exercises such as yoga, wearing the correct attire can help instructors to see women's form and posture and ensure that all of the positions are being executed correctly.
"The feel good factor of right clothing cannot be underestimated either," she added.
Earlier this month, Holly Lebowitz Rossi, a reporter who specialises in religion and spirituality, wrote on beliefnet.com that she had found the perfect hair-do for practicing yoga - pigtails.
She said they keep her hair out of the way but do not hurt her head when she is doing poses that require lying down.
