British women are using 515 chemicals on their bodies every day, new research has found.
A new study of over 2,000 women by deodorant-maker Bionsen found that women use a number of body and facial moisturisers, perfumes, deodorants and other make-up products, which include hundreds of chemicals.
Charlotte Smith, spokesperson for Bionsen, said that women are much more image conscious in today's society than they used to be, so they are using more products and undergoing an increasing number of beauty treatments.
She added that many new-generation cosmetics and beauty treatments contain more chemicals to achieve "better" results, therefore, the number of chemicals being used on the skin has increased.
Women hoping to improve the quality of their skin should ditch the creams and lotions and put on their ladies fitness wear, according to experts.
Audrey Kunin, a dermatologist, said: "It's no secret that exercise has important benefits for the entire body, but what many people don't realise is that our skin is the largest organ of our body, and thus, the benefits can be enormous."
