Women should 'invest in winter sportswear'

24 November 2009 16:43

Women should invest in all-weather women's fitness wear this winter as a way of adapting usual exercise habits to fit with the change in weather, according to a dietician.

Speaking to the Guardian, dietician Sian Porter said women that like to run or cycle should invest in ladies fitness wear that will keep them dry if the weather turns bad.

The average person gains an extra pound in weight over the festive period, according to the newspaper, so women should keep up their exercise routines, or even step them up a notch or two to combat this unwanted weight-gain.

Ms Porter recommended indoor exercise options such as swimming and ice skating - also recommended by the NHS, which said that just 40 minutes of ice skating will burn around 400 calories.

The NHS said that a typical Christmas Day's food can add up to 6,000 calories - three times the daily recommended amount for women, therefore, it is even more important for women to invest in new ladies fitness wear and get exercising if they want to avoid weight gain.ADNFCR-2569-ID-19476798-ADNFCR
