Yoga for Peace held in Toronto

Yesterday scores of women in Canada donned their bamboo yoga wear and took part in a free programme called Yoga for Peace.

The national movement aims to encourage people to "find peace" through the relaxing exercises.

YMCA centres across the Greater Toronto area offered free, hour-long yoga classes to the public.

The YMCA's Peace Week began on November 21st and the main events include awarding YMCA Peace Medallions to people in the community that have influenced and inspired the lives of others.

According to the NHS, running, walking, swimming, yoga and meditation are just a few of the activities that can help to alleviate stress by reducing some of the "emotional intensity" individuals feel.

Speaking to the NHS, Professor Cary Cooper, an occupational health expert at the University of Lancaster, said: "To deal with stress effectively you need to feel robust and you need to feel strong mentally, and exercise does that."ADNFCR-2569-ID-19479787-ADNFCR
