A Scottish yoga guru said that donning her ladies yoga wear and practicing her favourite poses helped her to beat an eating disorder.
Simone Moir weighed just 3st 10lb at the age of 16 due to years of suffering from anorexia, the Daily Record reported.
Speaking to the newspaper, she said: "In hospital one of the therapies was meditation, which is a big part of yoga. It seemed to rekindle some kind of life fire inside me. I didn't want to make my family sad and didn't want to die. It gave me the strength I needed to help my body heal itself."
Ms Moir, 34, is now a yoga teacher and takes a positive approach to her "second chance" and tries to instill the same optimism in her clients, which have included celebrities such as Madonna and Sting.
According to the newspaper, Ms Moir has helped people to recover from injuries sustained in car crashes, eased chronic back pain and helped other pupils who suffered eating disorders.
Yoga can also help to relieve back pain, according to a recent study. The study found that back pain patients who do yoga are better at overcoming pain and depression than people treated conventionally for back pain.
